In a profession where learning never truly pauses, platforms that enable meaningful exchange become essential. NVF Vetopia 2026 stood out as one such space, bringing veterinarians together not just to upgrade skills, but to engage, question, and evolve with the changing demands of animal care.

From insightful discussions to handson learning, the 11th edition of NVF Vetopia reaffirmed its position as one of India’s most meaningful platforms for veterinary professionals. Organised by the NVF Veterinary Foundation, the conference was held from 13–15 March 2026 at Mayfair Spring Valley Resort in Guwahati, followed by specialised workshops on surgery, radiology, cardiology and wildlife Set against the serene backdrop of Assam, and built around the theme “Brewing Knowledge in the Land of Assam Tea – Where Vets Unite Over Education and Chai”, NVF Vetopia 2026 brought together veterinary professionals from across the country, not just to learn, but to connect, exchange ideas, and reflect on the evolving landscape of animal healthcare. Speaking with Dr. Jasjeet Josan, Secretary and Board Member of the NVF Veterinary Foundation, offered deeper insight into how Vetopia has evolved into a focused platform for learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
The Vision Behind NVF Vetopia
“Vetopia was envisioned as a platform for continuous professional development,” shares Dr. Josan. “It is essentially a CPD programme—designed to ensure that practising veterinarians stay updated, skilled, and connected.”
What began as a bold idea soon translated into reality, with the first edition in Delhi attracting big numbers of participants. Over time, however, the focus has shifted from scale to substance. Today, NVF Vetopia is carefully curated to deliver depth of learning, meaningful interaction, and practical knowledge.
A Platform for Learning and Growth
Unlike large conventions that often prioritise numbers, Vetopia has consciously limited participation to around 400–500 veterinarians. This ensures that the conference remains interactive and focused.
“The idea is to create a space where veterinarians can engage directly with experts,” explains Dr. Josan. “They should be able to ask questions, move between sessions, and truly benefit from the experience.”
With multiple academic streams, workshops, and master-classes, Vetopia enables professionals to deepen their expertise while staying aligned with the latest advancements in veterinary science.
What Made Vetopia 2026 Stand Out
The 2026 edition stood out for its balanced blend of academic rigor and practical exposure. The conference featured diverse sessions across key areas of veterinary practice, along with hands-on workshops in surgery and wildlife master-classes in radiology and cardiology.
Participants engaged with experienced speakers and practitioners who brought real-world insights into the sessions. The learning is extended beyond lecture hall, which helps in creating a space for dialogue, exchange, and collaborative thinking.
Adding to the experience was the location itself. From Kaziranga National Park to Kamakhya Temple, the setting offered moments of reflection and connection with nature, perfectly complementing the spirit of the event.

Looking Ahead: Vetopia 2027
While details are still evolving, the vision for Vetopia 2027 remains clear—to grow without compromising quality.
“If participation increases, we would rather expand through parallel streams than simply increase numbers,” says Dr. Josan. “The focus will always remain on effective learning.”
This could mean more specialised tracks, deeper subject focus, and possibly broader outreach, while retaining the core philosophy of engagement and accessibility.
Challenges Facing Veterinarians Today
The veterinary profession today is at a crucial juncture. With rising expectations from pet parents and rapid advancements in medical science, veterinarians are required to constantly upgrade their skills.
“Continuous learning is no longer optional, it’s essential,” Dr. Josan emphasises. “The challenge lies in staying updated while managing day-to-day practice.”
Access to quality training, evolving technologies, and the need for specialisation are some of the key areas that platforms like Vetopia aim to address.
A Decade of Growth: Innovations in Pet Care
Over the past decade, India’s veterinary ecosystem has seen remarkable growth. From improved diagnostics to advanced treatment protocols, the focus has clearly shifted towards preventive and holistic care. Pet parents today can look forward to:
- Better diagnostic tools and early detection
- Specialised care in areas like Surgery, Opthamology, Neurology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Oncology, Exotics and Orthopaedics
- Increased awareness around nutrition and preventive healthcare
“The future is about wellness, not just treatment,” notes Dr. Josan. “And that shift is already underway.”
A Message to the Industry and Pet Parents
Dr. Josan’s message is simple yet powerful, “For veterinarians, never stop learning. For pet parents, trust your veterinarians and invest in preventive care.”
As the bond between humans and animals continues to deepen, collaboration between professionals and pet parents becomes even more important.
