Noise and chaos can be overwhelming for our pets. As responsible pet parents, it’s important to help them feel safe, calm, and cared for during loud gatherings and sudden routine changes.

India is the land of celebrations. From festivals to weddings, handling the noise and chaos can be overwhelming. And now think what your furry friend must be going through with his sensitive ears! As responsible pet parents, it’s our duty to ensure they feel safe and cared for — especially the puppies and senior pets who are more sensitive to change.
Here are some ways to help your pet stay calm and comfortable during anxiety induced by a change in plans, get-togethers, or loud noises.
Create a Safe Space
Don’t we all have a nook in our house where we feel most content and happy? The same is true for your pet as well. Set up a cozy and quiet corner where your pet can retreat when he’s feeling overwhelmed or anxious. Add some of his favorite toys, a comfy throw/ blanket, and you can also play some calming ambient music.
Love Means Keeping ‘em In
If you are someone who gets a lot of guests at home, your pet can be affected by it. Seeing new people, changes in their routine, and loud noise/ music can cause stress. Try to maintain your pet’s routine as much as possible.
Also, if your pet is generally sensitive to loud noises and people, try to avoid taking him for a walk during the peak evening hours. Keep him safe indoors with the windows closed and curtains drawn to minimize sound and light as much as possible. You can also play soothing music to ease the anxiety.
Activities to the Rescue
Keep your furry friend distracted with activities like indoor games, puzzles, or chew toys. This will keep his mind occupied and busy, and he’ll be distracted from the stress.
Avoid Dress Up
We know you love dressing up your furry friend. A dog blazer for your special celebrations or wedding in the family, a cute red Santa outfit for Christmas celebrations, or just a cool tee for when guests are coming over! These outfits indeed look cute, but may become a hassle for your pet. And when he is already feeling anxious, even a little discomfort piles up. If you want to dress up your pet, choose breathable and comfortable fabric, nothing that’s too tight or restricts his movement.
Comfort over fashion always!!!
Treat Time, Done Right

Yes, it is a good way to calm him with some treats. But how much is too much? Make sure you limit the treats, especially if your pet is suffering from any health issues. Also, festive foods that we humans love, like mithai, chocolates, nuts, and raisins, can be dangerous for pets, so keep them at bay.
Instead, you can give him healthy homemade cake with oats or ragi, fresh veggies like celery, cucumber, and carrot to chomp on, and other homemade treats.
Keep the Air Clean
Smoke, perfume, incense, or even party sprays can bother pets and trigger allergies or breathing issues. Keep them indoors, away from heavy fumes or pollution. If your pet has a respiratory condition, monitor closely and keep their medication handy. Do not take him out during early morning or late evening when the pollution level is considered to be the highest.
Gentle Aids for Peaceful Paws
Festivities, weddings, and celebrations may bring stress for your pet in the form of new faces, noises (parties and get-togethers), and a lot of hustle and bustle. Consider natural calming sprays, pheromone diffusers, or vet-prescribed anxiety aids to help your pet cope with stress. Always consult your vet before using any product.
Manifesting Calm Energy
Amidst all the hustle and running around, don’t forget to keep your calm. Your pet can sense your mood, and if he feels you are stressed or anxious, it won’t take much time for the energy to transfer to him. Stay composed, reassure them with affection, and enjoy the festive and holiday time together.
Like we always say, love and patience solve it all.
