When Love Knocks, Open the Door

I thought I was helping him, but I was wrong. Snowie healed me and showed the power of magnificent love and affection. – By Meenakshi Kishore and Mohit Kishore

– Snowie and his Miraculous Rescue

It was the year 2021, and the world was in the midst of a pandemic. On a cold night after work, I came home to find a pup lying sick on the ground. My gut told me to help him, but I chose to walk past him, thinking he was not my problem. The next day, I found him dead in the same spot. I couldn’t help but wonder what could have happened if I had acted differently.

As fate would have it, I found myself in the same situation two days later. Only this time, the pup was different. I saw this tiny pup, white as snow, sick and unable to move. Just like how the previous pup had been. It felt like the universe was telling me to do something, and I considered it as my sign!

I picked him up from the streets and brought him back to health. In every waking moment, his eyes were glued to me. I don’t believe in love at first sight, but with him, it was.

Sometimes, Home Is a Pair of Paws

People kept on telling me that a dog is a big responsibility and that I should leave him with his mum, so I did. I left him there, but it didn’t seem like his mum was accepting him. On my way back, I burst into tears. I cried to the point where everything went blurry. I just knew I couldn’t live without him.

I ran back to get him, but he was nowhere to be found. In panic, I started screaming out his name, ‘Snowie!’ ‘Snowie!’ and there he came running from the bushes, with his tiny paws tip-tapping. That day I decided that I would fight all odds, but will never leave him!

I don’t want to preach anything as I was not a dog lover myself, but all I can say is that when love comes knocking at your door, be ready to accept it as it is – it can be in any shape, color, or form – even a tiny ball of snow!
